Chris and I met through a family friend in December 2017. This friend set up a casual dinner with a few couples at another friend’s house. We had dinner and played card games – it was perfect! There weren’t sparks right away but I knew I wanted to get to know him better. When I was leaving, Chris asked me out on our first official brunch date at Cafe Rue Orleans.

We dated for almost 2 years when Chris popped the question. We were at Santa Rosa Beach on vacation with friends. We only had two days left and we were taking photos on the balcony. He had the ring in his hand the whole time and I had no idea. He got down on one knee and proposed with our friends right there. I thought he would make me wait until I was 40. It turns out that 30 was going to be my best year yet!

In thinking about where we would have the ceremony, I knew I wanted it to be at Sassafras Vineyard. The owner, Cheryl is a family friend, I love her place and I knew I wanted to support her business. We knew we wanted a small ceremony with close family and friends. Although it grew from what we had originally planned, we still had a very intimate ceremony. We had no bridal party and my daughter Eleanor walked me down the aisle 🙂

March 13, 2020 was our wedding day. My favorite part about the day was walking down and seeing Chris’s face and hearing his vows to my daughter (yes he had vows just for her). He gave her a beautiful necklace to symbolize his commitment to her. It was such an amazing day!
